End Scene! WOMAN closes with a Bang!
WOMAN, Project Moshen Dance Company Home season show premiered at the Performance Garage, in Philadelphia, April 13-15 closing off their 7th season with a bang!This Spring, the ladies of Project Moshen will shed light and bring awareness to women’s rights, and the constant struggle for recognition and equality in today’s society. Through innovative and inspiring movement, we hope to dig deep into the issues and controversy around women today, keeping the audience wanting more with a variety of dance styles, music, and emotion.
WOMAN, premiered new works by Artistic Director, Kelli Moshen, and guest choreographer, Eric Bean Jr. ( Former Koresh Dance Company member). Moshen used classical, cinematic music by Hans Zimmer, Kerry Muzzey, Olafur Arnalds and the powerful beats of Nicolas Jaar and Les Tambours De Bronx to depict her athletic, strong, fluid movement to tell the story of these independent women finding their voice.
Guest choreographer, Eric Bean Jr., reprised his piece “Def.i.(d)ance” to showcase confident, badass women.
WOMAN opened with the Institute of Dance Artistry’s Repertory Company showcasing “VENTURE” a piece Moshen set on the group. Moshen spent 3 months working with the IDA Repertory company pushing them to their limits to execute this intricate, strong, mesmerizing piece.
WOMAN starts off with 6 ladies from Project Moshen showcasing their confidence, sexiness, fierceness , strongly empowered selves. Leading the audience then down a road of emotions through Moshen’s pieces Silence No More about women voicing their opinions, In the skin showcasing how one can appear confident but deep down inside is insecure and damaged. Working Girl brought a comical side to the show but still touched the audience as it showcased a females presence in the working environment and then ending with WON’T STAND DOWN. A piece about coming together, unity, being equal and not being alone.
